Changes to Our Appointment System from 5th October 2026

To help improve access to appointments and ensure patients can be seen more quickly when they need medical advice, we are making some changes to how GP and Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) appointments are booked.

These changes will begin on Monday 5th October 2026.

What is changing?

From 5th October, all GP and Advanced Nurse Practitioner appointments will move to a same-day booking system.  This means that if you would like an appointment with a GP or ANP, you should contact the practice on the day you wish to be seen.

A proportion a suitable same-day appointments will also be available to book online.

Why are we making this change?

• To improve access to GP and ANP appointments.
• To reduce waiting times for patients who need to be seen.
• To ensure appointments are available for those who need them most.
• To provide a fairer and more flexible way of managing demand.

What if I need an appointment on a specific day?

Simply contact the practice on the day that is most convenient for you.  If you are unable to attend on a particular day, you can call on a future day when you are available.

Will reception staff ask me about my problem?

Yes.  Our reception team is trained to direct patients to the most appropriate service.  This may include signposting you to another healthcare professional, service, or member of the practice who can help with your concern.  Please be assured that all information shared with our reception team is treated confidenrially.  They only ask questions to help ensure you receive the right care from the right person as quickly as possible.

Which appointments are not changing?

• The following services will continue to operate as they do now:
• All clinics including contraceptive, pessary and baby clinics.
• All nurse and health care assistant appointments.
• These appointments will still be booked in advance where appropriate.
